From our Club President

Russ Meyers

President, Twin Lakes Board of Trustees

Greetings fellow members,

Even with all the rain John, our Superintendent continues to make great progress on the course. The fairways have been sanded for the first time in over two years, the greens have been aerated, and the new sand is in the rebuilt traps on 2, 8 and 14. More sand is on the way and will be added to most of the traps around the greens. Please be aware that the sand in these new traps is very fluffy at first until it settles so it’s going to be a bit tough to get the ball out. The rain should help in the settling process. Along with all this, fertilizer has been applied along with chemicals to make sure we keep the bumps down on the greens this year. The grounds and the course are looking great, the roof of the Club House has been cleaned and the windows in the ballroom have been replaced.

We are investing a lot of money to get the course in great shape. Your money for your course. Please do your part to help. Replace divots, fix ball marks, rake the traps and keep the golf carts away from the greens and traps.

We have started working on the new website that should be up and running by the end of May. We will be doing an all-day photo shoot in late April or early May. We will be doing both videos and photos in the Club House, pool and on the course highlighting the assets of the Club.

The Golf Show went very well. The show was attended by over 8,000 people. We’ve gotten some great interest and signed up two new members and have another 10 to 15 people that are in the process of checking out the Club.

We will continue to have Member Open Hour this month. The attendance has been light so far but for the people that have attended I think it’s a good format to share ideas and get any concerns addressed. The next meeting will be on 4/23 at 5pm. Please mark your Calander and come by if you can.

I would like to address an issue that has plagued the club over the last year. We have been unable to produce a monthly or annual financial statement. The last one produced was for March of last year. As many of you know we lost our accountant Alexis last year. The person we hired initially to replace her didn’t work out so we then hired Ashley, our current accountant. She unfortunately didn’t get much of a handoff or training on our very outdated accounting system, so she struggled. Currently Alexis has agreed to come back on the weekends to get us caught up and train Ashley.

These financial statements are a must to run the Club as it should be run, and I have been very frustrated as I’m sure you have been as well. The Club should produce these each month and be sharing them with you each month. I will get this fixed and make sure the members are kept up to date on our progress. The latest estimate by Tom, our GM, is we should have them by the end of this month

As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns.

UPCOMING APRIL/MAY GOLF EVENTS

Wednesday April 8 is the start of Master’s Weekend with our Par 3 Challenge at 5:30pm.  If you have not signed up, call or stop by the golf shop with your group.  Singles will be put together.  Both men & women invited.  CLICK HERE to go directly to Live Tourney registration page.

Next on the agenda is the “Pick your Pro” weekend competition.   April 10, Master’s Friday night, is our silent auction for your professional partner for the weekend.  There will be bid sheets for each professional golfer that makes the cut set up in the lobby starting at 5pm. The entry fee for this event is the auction price you pay for your tour player.  You can buy as many players as you want.  The competition is the tour player’s 2-day score over the weekend combined with your net score from Saturday or Sunday round at Twin Lakes.  If you are unable to make the auction on Friday night, you can buy a player the next morning by paying $5 more than the previous bid, provided the player has not teed off for their round at the tournament.  Remember, The Masters is played on the east coast so make sure you get the player you want before they tee off.  There are no assigned tee times for this event.  Make a tee time with someone who is also playing in the competition.  Last tee time off #1 tee on Sunday will be 12pm for the competition.

The Men’s League will be starting Wednesday, April 15th and running throughout the summer.  $85 is the entry to join the league.  Your entry goes toward the “Season End” banquet and the “Winward Cup” payouts.   The Men’s Wednesday evening competitions begin at 5:30pm (shotgun) and our Fri/Sat/Sun weekend comps are tee times on your own time (playing with another league member).  They format of play varies on types of competitions.  There is no prior sign-up necessary during these events.  The buy-in for Wednesday and weekend events is $10.

We have the Couples anniversary tournament on April 26th.  This is a two-person chapman format for couples.  We play this in groups of three couples (six-some), and you can choose the other two couples for your playing partners.  The sign-up is available in the pro shop.  Included in your $30 entry fee is a Champagne Toast while on the course.  The Thursday night Couple’s Mixers and Sunday play days will start up in May.

Men, mark your calendars for the Spring 2 Man, which takes place on May 2nd & 3rd.  18 holes played on Saturday and 27 holes on Sunday.  Three different formats will be used for this event.  Starting with a Better Ball format on Saturday followed by a Scramble format on Sunday morning and finishing the event with a 9-hole Chapman Sunday afternoon.  It’s time to find a partner and sign-up in the pro shop.  If you need a partner, contact the golf shop and we will do our best to pair you up.

We are currently trying to set up the Men’s Senior Exchanges for this year.  The Linden exchange is set for April 15 there and April 22 here.   Glen Acres exchange is May 13 here and May 22 there.  Plateau Club dates for July are July 8 there and July 22 here.  We are still working on an exchange date(s) with Alderbrook in August and will keep you posted.  All exchange events will start at 9am.    The cost to participate in these events is $10 to cover the competition.  You will be on your own for any type of Food/Beverage.

WOMEN’S AND MEN’S INVITATIONALS – STILL TIME TO SIGN UP.

Contact the golf shop for your entry information packet.

Women’s Invitational – May 2nd & 23rd

Men’s Invitational – June 3rd – 6th

Our Friends of the Golf Course award, the “Sandy” recognition is starting back up again for the season.  This award is presented monthly recognizing those members that have gone above and beyond with the care of the course/facility.  This dedication and time go unnoticed most of the time and this program is designed to give back to those that give so much.  So, if you see someone spending extra time filling in the divots left behind uncared for or maintaining the golf course/facility in some way, please let Kathy know so that we can get this member the recognition and the “Thank You” that they deserve.

We have new faces among our golf operations staff.  We have a new outside staff member on board with us this month.  We are excited to have Addie Scheuffele join our Twin Lakes family and what she will be able to contribute to our golf operations.

See you around the club!

Kathy, Ben, Golf Operation Staff

Greens Committee

If you have been around the golf course lately, it is clear that John and his team have been extremely busy working on spring projects. New sod has been laid on the two new bunker replacements, and these will be filled with new sand soon- possibly by the time you read this. In addition to the full rehabbed bunkers, you will also see many other cleaned up and edge bunkers throughout the course. The bunkers are starting to take place.

Spring aerification was a success; in addition to the greens, the crew also sanded the fairways which required over 200 tons of sand!

We invite you to visit this maintenance link to view photos of recent completed work!

Maintenance 2026

Some of the projects you will see in the link:

  • Ivy and path clean up on #9 lower tee boxes
  • Hole 6 restroom renovations near complete
  • ‘Twin Lakes’ log on #3 hillside is refinished and reinstalled on the hill
  • Fescue and more wood chips added to #3 tee hillside
  • Dead trees at #5 tee removed
  • Parking lot bed clean ups

Thank you to John and his team and the MMC for their hard work and contributions to the beautification and maintenance of the golf course and property.

For other questions, comments, or concerns please email tpac14@gmail.com and/or ssealey16@gmail.com and we will review with the committee.

9 Hole Women's Division

Thank goodness Spring is finally here. The 9 Hole women’s Division kicked off along with the 18 Hole Group the first week in March.  So now thru September our group will be out on Tuesday afternoons giving it our all!  We start every month off with a Low Net competition and then mix up our competitions from there. We also have a fun team competition on the last Tuesday of each month.  Our division has a ton of fun and we always welcome newcomers, whether you are an experienced golfer just wanting to do 9 holes or a beginner who has barely held a club.  We’ve all been there!!!  If you have any interest in joining the 9 Hole Women’s Division, don’t hesitate to contact the Proshop, (they will give you contact information) OR come join us after one of our Tuesday competitions..  You can usually find some of us enjoying “good company” in the lounge after our round. ( around 6pm on Tuesdays)

So for March, our Low Net comp on 3/3 had ilima B, Kim C and Erika S going 1st and a tie for 2nd in Flight 1 and Brittney R, Kristina S and Anne G going 1,2,3 in Flight 2. On our second week with the course aerification, 3/10, (shots to the Green) , our winners were Donna L and Callie M in a tie for 1st and Kimberley N in 3rd. 3/17 was our third week with Best 7 as our competition. Flight 1 had Kim C and Tami G tying for 1st and ilima B taking 3rd. Flight 2 had Donna L taking 1st and a 3-way tie for 2nd between Cherie H, Kimberley N and Kristina S. On 3/24 with a to of rain and a sopping wet course, we only had 1 eligible player out, so congratulations to Dominique M for 1st place in the ODD hole competition.  Our final competition of the month was a TEAM Best Ball, (2 of 4.  The winning team consisted of ilima B, Tami G, Maribel H and Lauren S. 2nd place team was Kim C, Cherie H Brittney R and a blind player, Tami G. 3rd place went to the team of Kelley B, Donna L, Kimberley N and Erika S. Way to GO Ladies and Great turn out for our Team event……we had 17 9 Hole gals out for a great afternoon of Golf!!!
