Dear Twin Lakes,
A few nights ago, the Women’s Division had their end-of-year awards banquet, and it served as a fantastic reminder of my love for Twin Lakes and the friends I’ve made here. When I moved to Federal Way from Salt Lake City almost 9 years ago, I joined Twin Lakes and the Women’s Division within a month of moving here. I was determined to make new friends, and I really wanted to play more golf. I found a group to play with, and I still play golf with them 8 years later (haven’t run them off yet, they let me beat them occasionally). They have become my closest friends here and I value that highly.
I was worried it would be hard to break in somewhere new, but I found that members at Twin Lakes are eager to have you join them and find out more about you. I was not in search of a stuffy country club and was thrilled to find that Twin Lakes is definitely not that! We have 50+ new proprietary and social members this year. I hope you new members find a community of welcoming people at Twin Lakes. We try to provide a lot of opportunities for members to connect. If you haven’t been to the lounge on a Friday night, come see how fun it is and maybe your name will be called in the member drawing! We had almost 100 people turn out for our Turkey Trot this year (including a couple of inflatable pigs!).
This event continues to grow year after year with increased awareness. Reservations are still open for the New Year’s Eve party! This year it will be a more casual event with a later start, themed drink stations, a champagne toast, “sunrise buffet” (breakfast food!) and entertainment from Soul Funktion. I think it’s going to be a blast. And don’t forget our Festive Friday Night in the lounge with trivia on Dec. 19th.
The leadership of the Women’s Division put on a fantastic awards banquet, in no small part due to the women who came to the club the day before and put up all the Holiday decorations. The clubhouse looks fabulous! I’m continually impressed at how the Women’s Division at Twin Lakes SHOWS UP in every aspect of our club. They have representatives on every committee, they donate decorations, food, time, flowers, children’s gifts and so much more. This group has been an absolute backbone of Twin Lakes- I am so grateful for all they do and I am proud to be a member.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge a long-time Twin Lakes member and volunteer, Jeff Eberle. Jeff is completing his 6th year on the Board of Trustees where he held the offices of President, Vice-President and Secretary. His final Board meeting will be December 15th, and I’ll sure miss seeing him every month. Thank you for your friendship and support, Jeff! I also want to thank Alyssa Johnson and Issac Henry-Cano for each serving as Secretary in 2025, it is not an easy job!
Congratulations to Russ Meyers, Aron Defaccio and Dan Smith on their election to the Board of Trustees. I’m eager to see their contributions to the 2026 Board and to serve with them next year (my last year!). Twin Lakes has made amazing positive strides, and I have been really honored to be a part of it. I’m excited about the future of our Club and eager to see who will lead it.
One last volunteer acknowledgement goes to the Al Herbers Volunteer of the Year recipients, the “Monday Morning Miracles” – Red Elder, Murray Riggio and Bob Middleton – who have donated hundreds of hours every Monday morning to clear brush, weed gardens and haul debris to the “train station”. Their efforts were recognized by Kevin Isherwood with a red bucket of supplies at the Annual Meeting.
This time of year, please take time to thank our staff. Not everyone has the means to give a monetary gift, but a sincere and personal thank you goes a very long way. They all work so hard to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all our members and their guests.
I sincerely wish that you have Happy Holidays and that you’re able to enjoy some of the magic of the season. I hope to see you around the Club.
Sincerely,
Erika Sheffield-Stull, Board President

Happy Holidays Everyone! Elizabeth and I loved spending Thanksgiving morning with your families and cute dogs at the Turkey Trot. That event is always a great kickoff to the Holiday Season. I want to thank everyone who came by to help us decorate the club for Christmas. The Clubhouse has never looked more inviting and immediately provides a happy boost of Christmas magic the moment you walk in.
If you purchased wine at the last wine tasting, please stop by the office to pick your box (or boxes) so you can have your wine for entertaining at home throughout the Holidays.
It’s inspiring to have so many great events with wonderful energy. There is still room for more tables for our big New Year’s Eve party. Please call Molly and make your reservations. Thank you so much for coming out and supporting the club.
Also, a quick reminder, we will be closing the clubhouse on January 1st through January 8th to complete a few maintenance projects and some early spring cleaning. The golf course will be open regular hours on those days.
In this special time of year, my family and I sincerely hope you can enjoy every possible moment together with your friends and loved ones.
Birthdays
It’s officially December! If you weren’t holly-jolly before, we hope you’ll get in the holiday spirit with us now! Coming up this Saturday, Dec 6th, we are hosting our Golf Shop Annual Sale – all day in the golf shop. We have an addition to this year’s event as we will be having Cutter & Buck here from 4:30 – 6:30pm for a trunk show so that you can buy holiday gifts as well as spend any outstanding credit book money or gift cards that you may have on the books. Your purchases can be either logo’ d or non-logo’ d and be ready to wrap in a week’s time.

We will also be recognizing all the 2025 major tournament winners this year in the clubhouse from 5:30 – 7pm. Make sure to clear your schedule to help celebrate the men’s club champion as well as senior and super senior winner, Winward Cup Champion, Spring and Fall 2man winners, men’s President Cup winner, as well as our Couples’ Champion and all the Women’s Division winners both here at Twin Lakes and within the SWGA event calendar.
I heard them exclaim after the last event “When is the next one coming?” Well Santa and the elves heard you loud and clear and they have put together another fun “18 Holes of Golf-mas”. We hope you’ll put a group together and follow along our journey through every hole of our beautiful course in celebration of the holiday season. This winter series 2 event is on Saturday, December 13 9am shotgun.
Looking at the weather forecast, the weather looks semi- favorable as of now but should be getting better as we get close to next Saturday. So, clear your schedule and join in. It’s another opportunity to bring friends out for a fun day of golf and show off the golf course. This format will be a Scramble game with a holiday twist. The Sign-Up sheet is on the window in the golf shop, and the registration link is on the website calendar.
For those needing a partner(s), no worries… The golf shop will get you paired up. The price is $35 for members and $60 for guests. Entry Includes breakfast and competition. Guests’ entry also includes the green fee. (power carts will be an additional cost).
Mark your calendars for our Annual New Year’s Eve Day Tournament. For this event sign up, stop by, or call the golf shop. The registration link is also on the website. The registration link has all of the information pertaining to costs and guest fees.
Lastly, Ben and I want to thank all the Members and Staff of Twin Lakes Golf and Country Club for a great 2025. We have staff changes every year and your patience and support make these transitions easy and smooth. I have to say that I believe that this is the best group of men and women that I have had the opportunity to work with for a very long time.
We are looking forward to sharing the holidays with you and yours. Please make sure to stop by the golf shop and say hello on your way into the clubhouse to cheer your holiday! Especially, on the rainy days…. It gets lonely being apart from the action in the clubhouse during this time of year.

November brought nearly 6 inches of rain and multiple wind storms. It seemed like each time the crew made significant strides in cleaning up leaves, the next storm would roll in. Thankfully the leaves should mostly be done falling for now. Through these weather events, John and his crew have remained busy working on projects and improving the course. Some recent projects they completed were filling in the first fairway bunker on hole #7, laying new sod on tee box areas the crows had chewed up, extending/repairing gravel areas of the cart path (like near #15 green), and fixing high areas of the driving range net. Thank you to John and his team for their constant dedication and efforts..

The Greens Committee would also like to shout out the Monday Morning Maintenance team. Thank you to this important team of volunteers for all you have done to help assist John and his team in maintaining and improving the course. Their efforts have truly made a difference. If you are interested in contributing to this team and/or to the ‘adopt a location’ maintenance program please Sign up for Adopt-a-location program.
Upcoming projects and goals:
Reminders: please fix your ball marks, fill divots, and keep golf carts off the course this time of year!
For other questions, comments, or concerns please email tpac14@gmail.com and/or ssealey16@gmail.com and we will review with the committee.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Greens Committee.

November Trivia:
Enthusiastic contestants packed the lounge Friday November 19th to battle over 3 rounds of trivia questions led by host, Joel Garrido.
As appropriate to the season, the first round tested players on Thanksgiving facts, such as which NFL team played the most games on Thanksgiving (Detroit Lions), or which US president first pardoned a White House turkey (G.W. Bush).
Next came the Classics: Which Russian novelist wrote Crimes and Punishment (Fyodor Dostoyevsky).
Last round was devoted to Famous TV characters. Who was Tom Cruz’s leading lady in Top Gun (Kelly McGillis).
The tiebreaker round was devoted to Car Culture and locked in the win for couples John and Casey Gibson and Harry and Jennifer Tarica), simply named: The Team.

Stand by for results on which team will take home the end of the year Trivia Trophy by attending the Festive Party on Friday December 19th to take part in friendly contests that also include trivia.
On November 6th Sahalee Golf & CC hosted the SWGA Annual Meeting and, WOW, our Twin Lakes ladies really shone. 10 of us attended and got to see Angela Lee bring home the Joan Koch trophy for low net of the field on qualifying day of the City Championship and the Past President’s trophy for low net of the field at the Sweeps Past President’s event. In addition, we have the Elizabeth Dwan trophy for the performance of our Sweeps players during 2025. Last, but certainly not least, we have the SWGA Team Handicap plaque. Our SWGA Trustee, and SWGA treasurer, Denise Harrell, had quite a load to carry back to the Club. Fantastic job ladies!
December 2nd was our Annual Awards Banquet, our 2026 Captain, Denise Harrell will begin her reign with Assistant Captain Suzy Eberle. We will also congratulate all of the winners in the three Major Tournaments. Those are Captain’s Cup, President’s Cup and Women’s Division Club Championship. Due to really great participation almost every Women’s Division member won something. All of the results and payouts are posted in the Women’s locker-room. Thanks to all of you, it was a good season.
Now the Women’s Division Board is working on our calendar of events for 2026. Please let Denise Harrell or Ilima Brainard know if there is any change in your phone number, address or membership status.
Here is your winter challenge…send Sally a description of your best, most memorable golf feats of 2025. It doesn’t need to be from a Tuesday, anything that you just couldn’t resist telling your friends and family.
Whatever holiday you celebrate, we hope it is joyous and full of peace.
See you next year!
