Greetings,
It’s been busy at the Club as of late, as you all know. The Woman’s Invite went very well. The Men’s Invite is this weekend, and we had the pool opening over Memorial Day. All so far have worked out well due to the great support of Kathy and her staff at the Pro shop and Lorenzo & Bob Rawlings working hard to get the pool open.
The course looks much better than last year. The greens are filling in and the sand traps that John’s been working on are all looking great. The traps on 5 fairways will wrap up our sand projects for the year.
The financials are finally done for 2025 and are attached to the latest Board meeting report. They are as accurate as possible and are the best that could be produced given the fact we have gone through two accountants over the past year or so and currently have an opening in that position. Tom is working to fill that position. If you know of anyone with an accounting background looking for a job, please let Tom know. We currently have no financials for 2026 and still don’t have a budget for the year.
We will be having a very important member appreciation event on June 26 to announce an exciting new program to attract new members. It’s a Friday night and the club will be providing free drinks, appetizers, door prizes, free golf rounds, our regular money drawing and much more. Please try to attend.
As always please contact me with any questions.
Russ Meyers
Twin Lakes Club President
Happy June! I hope everyone had a wonderful spring.
It has been exciting to see so many new members getting involved in club events. Janel, along with the Social Committee and Membership Committee, has done a wonderful job encouraging participation, and those efforts are clearly making a difference. It was especially great to see so many new members playing in the Women’s and Men’s Invitationals. I hope these experiences have helped you build new social connections and find fellow golfers to enjoy both events and rounds with at the club.
Twin Lakes is one of the most welcoming clubs I have ever been part of, and that becomes more evident each time I see new members so warmly embraced by all of you. Whether you are new to the club or have been here for years, I encourage you to continue sharing your enthusiasm for Twin Lakes with friends and colleagues and to invite them to become part of our club community. We also invite everyone to join us for a mixer on June 26th, where we will introduce the new membership program for summer 2026. In the meantime, please contact me or Janel Metcalf if you would like new member packets to share with prospective members.
Speaking of the Invitationals, I would also like to congratulate Stephanie Papke and her teammate on winning the Women’s Invitational. Stephanie’s hard work on the range clearly paid off, and she played exceptionally well under pressure.
I also invite everyone to stop by the banquet room and enjoy the view through the large, newly replaced windows. Thanks to the House Committee and the hard work of our Head of Maintenance, Lorenzo Jackson, along with Bob Rawlings, the space now offers a beautiful, updated look. Thank you as well to Paul Moorhead, owner of Budget Blinds, for adding the finishing touch with custom remote-control blinds.

Have a wonderful summer!
Tom

What a change in the golf weather we are experiencing this past weekend and prediction for this next week. I was having a great time with our 70-degree weather and ready to get our Seattle summer started and then these past few days deflated my expectations. But in the end, what a great time with both of our Invitationals.
We ended May with our Women’s Invitational (74 players) and our Memorial Day Couples (66 players) event. We just finished up with our Men’s Invitational (104 players). Now, it’s back to our normal routine with our Tuesday Women’s 18- & 9-hole competitions, our Wednesday Night Men’s League, and our Couple Mixers on Thursday nights.
A recap of our Men’s Invitational: Wednesday we started with their practice round. Thursday 1pm shotgun was the beginning of tournament rounds with a BBQ sponsored by B&E Meats (thank you Dina & Harold Adams) along with the Kiddy Pool Challenge (Kevin Frary and Brian McMullen) and Putting Contest (Tim Proctor). This year Motors NW sponsored a $10 putting Challenge, so we used Thursday night as a qualifier for this event (Lukas Harrington). Friday’s 9am shotgun was followed by a 5-hole horse race (62 participants) that ended with playoffs watched by the crowd of Friday night member draw. Marv Osterhout and Eric Maple won in the playoff, Ramon Dzubay and Tyler Dost came in second, and third place went to Jeff Eberle and Derick Rivers. We ended our final round with better weather than Friday afternoon and another playoff to decide our Overall Winning team of Josh Kuske, Bryant Johansen, Jaren Johansen, and Ryan Manougian playing #9 and #3. It was a great time for all and full results from this event for viewing will be finalized on Tuesday (after a couple of days of rest)
For the men’s league participants, the Men’s Presidents Cup matches start on June 15. The pod matches need to be completed by Aug 1. The winners of each pod will then advance to the final match play event to determine the overall winner which will be announced at the end of the year banquet along with the “Winward Cup” finals.
We have a couple of Thursday night Mixers on the books – June 11th at 6pm on the front 9. Click Here to sign up. We also have on June 25 at 5:30pm. CLICK Here to sign up.
Our annual Battle of the Sexes will be held on June 28. We have a field size between 36 – 40 players. Men vs Women for the 2026 bragging rights. Our men are our last year’s braggers. Frankie and Ramon will be drawing the pairings once again. We will keep you posted to the times/match schedule as we get closer to the battle date.
It’s time to open your calendars to participate in the Cross-Country Horse Race on Wednesday, June 24th starting on #10 at 5:30pm. The sign-up sheet is open on Live Tourney as well as posted on the golf shop window. If you have time that evening to come watch, it is a fun event to watching the players play hole 10 to the 11th green; Hole 12 to the 13th green; Hole 14; and then Hole 15 to the 16th green. If you are interested in participating, call the golf shop and sign up. This is a mixed event using the ABCD random draw to determine the pairings.
We continue to replenish the Sand/Seed bottles in the golf cars, on #9 green and at the #1 tee. The golf operations staff thanks all of you for using these bottles as it is noticeable how often we must fill them. Please, as a reminder, keep up with sanding divots, raking bunkers and fixing ball marks. John Leslie and his staff worked extremely hard to get the course in great shape and mother nature has really helped us this spring. Thank you for all your help in doing your part to keep our conditions going in the right direction.
Regarding booking tee times, with the golf course starting to get busier and busier we need to make sure that if you booked a tee time and are not going to play, please call us and get it cancelled. This will give every member a fair and equal chance to enjoy our golf course. Also, please try to add all the names of players into your tee time online and/or when you call the golf shop to reserve. This will also ensure we have all your golf bags and push carts ready for you upon arrival.
For now, enjoy the great weather that should be coming our way, spending time with your family and friends, and most of all… enjoy swinging the golf club!
See you around the club!
Kathy, Ben, and the Golf Operations Staff
With the invitationals, summer golf tournaments, late sunsets, and summer-like weather here, it is an exciting time of year for golf at Twin Lakes!
In case you missed it, John Leslie released two “Superintendent Updates on the Golf Course” in recent weeks. John detailed leaks that occurred on hole #1 and #18 once they started the irrigation system, and what they did to repair and improve these areas. He also discussed the overall health of the greens, preventative actions they have taken this year, and the importance of long-term health. The greens have filled in, are healthy, and he has now lowered the mow height for the greens to be rolling smoother while maintaining around a 10-10.5 speed. These emails from John are highly informative and we encourage you to check them out when they are sent out.
Other projects John and team have been working on:
We invite you to visit this maintenance link to view photos of recent completed work!

What a wonderful group of women we have in our 9 Hole Division. In just a few years we have gone from just 15 women in the group, to averaging 15 women coming out for every Tuesday evening competition. We are a fun group that has a wide range of age and ability, but we are always open to new members. If you have any questions about our division, ask in the Proshop and they will point you in the right direction.
Our May competitions started with a Low Net. The second Tuesday was our NUTTS which is a Net plus Putts competition with ONES being our 3rd competition of the month. ONES you only count scores on holes that start with letters in the word ONES. Our final competition of the month is always a team competition with a shotgun start. This was a Wack and Hack, taking the Best and Worst Net scores, (bonus if you get a birdie or better as you then get to take the Bird and the next Best Net score) The winners of our team competition were Donna Luinstra, Kim Nemethy, Brittney Rivers and Julie Thornton. Way to go Ladies!!
