Sandblaster March 2024

From our Club President

Bryce Landrud

President, Twin Lakes Board of Trustees

Hello Team!

The ‘team’ aspect of our club has become more and more apparent to me over the past several months.  The most obvious of these are the Board, the Committees, the Golf maintenance crew, and the various golfing groups, to name just a few. Others organize our tournament and league play schedules, develop and host club activities, and collaborate to update and modernize our Club bylaws and policies.

The activities that so many of us have engaged in recently, as part of one or more of these teams, have resulted in the development and engagement in the pool/pump projects, the location and hiring of Tom Coburn, our General Manager, and the launch of our new ‘Our club, Our future’ membership preview initiative.  By the time you read this, another team will have led the way to the hiring of our new golf course superintendent.  Kevin Isherwood is working to maximize the team aspect of Twin Lakes and the willingness of our members to contribute by creating an official volunteer roster to help put you in a place to utilize your skills effectively and efficiently.

I have been thanked by a number of you for ‘stepping up’ to serve as your president, and I truly appreciate that.  But the real work is being done by you, our members, and the teams they work with to move our club forward.

Thank you and GO TEAM!

Happy March everyone! First, I would like to thank everyone for coming Thursday to the kickoff for our member marketing initiative with Steve Graves. It was very exciting to see 125 people show up with such enthusiasm. If anyone needs additional packets or to set up a tour for prospective members, please contact Janel, Molly, or me.

I am happy to report that we officially have a new Greens Superintendent! John Leslie has accepted the position. He has been the superintendent at Tapps Island Golf Course for 20 years and will bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm. John, his wife, and their two small boys are excited to become part of the Twin Lakes family. I want to thank the great committee of Bryce Landrud, Erika Sheffield, Jeff Eberle, Kathy Wake, and Diane Meyers for their work.  I really appreciate their time and effort!

The irrigation pump project is now well under way! The pipes have been installed, and the pumps will be moved into place soon. Additionally, we should have approval for the pool plans in the next week. The moment we have final approval, we will begin demolition of the current pool. It is exciting to see so much positive momentum on these projects!

Don’t forget to join us Friday night in the lounge for the weekly drawing! We went another week without a winner, which makes next week’s drawing worth just over $500 in dues credit!

We want to celebrate you each month in the Sandblaster! Email your name and birth month, or your Anniversary month to Janel!

Hi Everyone!

Every now and then, Mother Nature smiles down on us and gives us a stretch of nice weather in the winter.  In the case of the current conditions of snow, freezing rain, temperatures in the teens, we haven’t been so lucky.  Hopefully, that was the last of the crazy stuff and we can trust Punxsutawney Phil with his prediction of early spring. Last month we had our annual Super Bowl Scramble.  Congratulations to our AFC Championship Team of Michael Gintz, Justin Thornton, and Chris Coovert with their 73 Stableford points.    GGID tlsuperbowl24

We also were able to get one last Winter Series event finished.   Congratulations to Brad Haley and his guests on their first-place finish with 93 stableford points with our Lone Ranger Shamble format. GGID tlwinterf24

This week we started up with the ladies’ 18 & 9-hole leagues.  A reminder that tee times on Tuesdays are blocked from 10-12am and 4-5pm, respectfully for ladies only.  In addition, we are in the process of moving the ladies #2 tee box to the right of the cart path until we can get the steps upgraded.  To help with this transition, we are asking all walkers (both men and women) refrain from using this teeing area as a walking path as to keep the turf usable for teeing off.

For the men regarding your 2024 Men’s Invitational June 6-8th, we will be sending out a constant contact message to all proprietary golfing members with all the information for the event as well as the sponsorship opportunities.

March Month at a Glance

If you haven’t visited the web site recently, log on and check out the monthly calendar.  You will find descriptions of the events as well as links for sign-ups. We are updating the calendar on a regular basis with current dates and events, especially, if tournaments and/or Fitting Dates need to be rescheduled.

We have a few golf events scheduled this month which include the Winter 2 Person that is rescheduled for Saturday the 16th ($65 per person entry).  Open to both men and women.  The team event has been changed to a 18-hole combining the scramble, best ball, and chapman formats.  Breakfast burritos and deli lunch buffet included.
