From our Club President

Russ Meyers

President, Twin Lakes Board of Trustees

Greetings all,

Not much new to report this month other than things are proceeding well. As most have seen, the traps on 2 and 8 have been worked on and the sod for those traps will be put in this week. Please stay out of them and any other trap that is being worked on.

Tom Coburn, our General Manager, has selected Jonus Club Management System as our new website, POS system and back-end accounting system. The first thing you will see from the new system will be the website, which should be up and running within the next two months or sooner. The Point of Sales system and back-end accounting will be operational the beginning of October. The club will need some time to transfer all of the member data, inventory, tee sheets, and menus. There will also be a lot of training for our staff before we pull the switch to change over.

The new system will also come with an App that all members will be able to download to their phones. This app will allow our members to make tee times, view your statements,  order food from the course and see all the activities going on around the club. It will also allow you to communicate with the people you play golf with or hang out with at the club. It will allow the Club to send push notifications for events you are interested in at the club. We will no longer have to rely on you reading the emails the Club sends out, it will just pop up on your phone.

The marketing effort is going to be starting this month. You should start to see social media ad’s and we will also be at the Seattle Golf show 3/13 thru 3/15 at the Puyallup Fair grounds.

John Crallie, our Bar Manager, will be leaving us mid-month.  He has sold his house and will be moving to Italy.  Please wish him well.

February’s Member Open Hour went well. We will have another this month on Thursday the 26th at 5:00pm. If you can attend, please do and bring any questions, ideas or concerns.

From our General Manager

TOM COBURN

GENERAL MANAGER

Hello all and happy March!

It has been a very busy start to the year!  Our Golf Course Superintendent John Leslie and his crew have been hard at work on all of our new projects.  If you haven’t had a chance to play lately, the new bunker renovations on #2 and #8 are well on their way to completion.  John has finished the drainage and shaping of the bunkers and last week they were able to lay the sod throughout both of those areas.  Once the roots of the new sod take hold, the new sand will be added.

The second part of the project list pertains to marketing and the member experience.  We are almost through the selection process of the new Point of Sale software for the club.  I will have more specific updates once the system has been selected and how it will impact your overall member experience.  Regardless of the company, the change will greatly improve how the staff interact with you as well as our ability to communicate.  It is an exciting change!

It truly is with sadness that I announce the retirement of John Crallie.  I am grateful for all the support he has given me and all of the hard work he has put into making the club successful.  He came to Twin Lakes in order to keep busy after a long career in the food and beverage industry, and he ended up being an integral part of the Twin Lakes Food and Beverage Operations.  John is a wealth of knowledge and the club, as well as those who have worked beside him, have all benefited.  He has certainly earned the time to relax and enjoy every day.  Please take a moment to say goodbye before he ventures off to Italy!

I would also like to express my great appreciation for all the time and dedication that Randy Russell put into his time as Treasurer and leading the Finance Committee.  Randy has decided to step down due to his workload away from the club in his “real job”.  It has been a real pleasure to work with Randy, and I am grateful for all the support he has given me throughout my time at Twin Lakes.  Thank you Randy!

There will be a lot to report on in the coming months as we continue through a very busy 2026. I look forward to seeing you all throughout the year!
Tom

HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL

Hi Everyone!

Every now and then, Mother Nature smiles down on us and gives us a stretch of nice weather in the winter.  Wow! Was that the case last Thursday, Sunday, and Monday with all three day’s tee sheets booked like midsummer days.  Hopefully, these current conditions will continue after this week.  I am certainly looking forward to the golfing season starting and playing in the pro-ams that are scheduled with you all this coming year.

Speaking of the 2026 Pro Am Schedule: The Pro-Am Member drawing was held a couple of weeks ago and we have the schedule posted in the golf shop.  We were able to fill in the events with the attendees that were present.  If you cannot attend and would like to put your name down as an alternative in case of cancellation, let the golf shop know.  In addition, if you can’t make your posted event, the sooner you let us know, the sooner we can let an alternate know and plan.

For our new members as well as current, a reminder for all that if you haven’t set up a profile on the web site, please do so.  This way you can put all your family members’ names on the tee sheet when making your tee times.  All members of the family need to have separate email addresses for these profiles.

Cart Stickers for those members who have paid trail fees are now available at the golf shop for you to pick up.  A reminder for those members and associate/social members that have private carts and elected to not pay a trail fee for the use, it will cost you $40 to use it on the golf course when you play.  In addition, members that have private carts that tow them in from home, the upper parking lot is where you need to park your trailers.  Please do not park in the main lot as we need this space for the fellow members and guests using both the golf course as well as the clubhouse facilities.

We have a few golf events scheduled this month which include our Spring Glow Ball Event this Friday the 6th at 6:30pm ($50 per person entry).  What a great excuse to party with us on the greens!!  The money raised goes to the assistant’s fund that helps support Ben with his education and PGA sanctioned events.

Our Winter 2 Person scheduled for this Saturday the 14th ($65 per person entry).  Open to both men and women proprietary members.  The team event with an 18-hole combining the scramble, alternate shot, and chapman formats.  Breakfast and light lunch included in the entry fee along with the competition purse.  Handicap difference between players is 12 max.  CLICK HERE – for registration information.  Men, Women, and Mix teams – 9am Shotgun

I mention it last month in this article about the “Seattle Golf Show” coming up March 13-15 and having a booth this year.  If you are planning on attending this year’s show in Puyallup, make sure to swing by our booth while you are there and say hello while you are there.  This show is also a great way of taking advantage of the vendor’s all being there at one time to compare the 2026 equipment lines.  Make sure to take notes (or pictures) on the product that you are testing and interested in purchasing so we can special order the product for you.

The annual March “Golf Madness” event will run from Wed, March 18 thru Mon, April 6.  During this period, you can declare your round with the golf shop (prior to teeing off) and drop off your completed scorecard at the end of your round that day.  This is a match play format using your completed scorecards for all rounds of the event.  Depending on the number of sign-ups, there will be brackets, with player divisions and seeds randomly chosen by Live Tourney. There is no entry fee for this event – Just a Pro Shop “Kick Off” to the golf season.  Open to both men and women.  Sign-ups sheets are in the golf shop.  Who knows… you may be the winner of a dozen golf balls.

This past week we started up with the Women’s 18 & 9-hole leagues.  The tee times on Tuesdays that are blocked from 10-11:30am and 4-5:20pm, respectfully are for ladies only.

Men’s League Starts up in April – CLICK HERE to register.  As a practice session. We start out during Master’s Week with a par 3 Challenge and follow up that weekend with “Pick your Pro” competition.  The following Wednesday, April 15th at 5:30pm (make sure to get your taxes done so that you can join us!) is our official starting date.

The date is set for the 2026 Women’s Invitational: May 21st -23rd.  Contact Frankie Stephens for more information and an entry form.

The date is set for the 2026 Men’s Invitational: June 3rd -6th, information will be sent out via constant contact to all proprietary golfing members with the event information as well as sponsorship opportunities.  Make sure to get this time set aside and start getting your 4-some teams together.  This is a foursome event.  Please Note: the maximum number of members per group is 2.

To view all of Our 2026 calendar of membership events CLICK HERE so that you don’t miss out on joining us for our Bingo, Trivia, and other social events that go along with your golfing opportunities..

An email was sent out a few days ago – Aerification is set up for March 15th – 20th. The schedule right now:  Aerify putting green and start front 9 Sunday afternoon – Front 9 will be closed starting at 2pm.  Course Closed all day Monday and Tuesday except for the women’s division going off at 4pm for their scheduled play day.  The back 9 will be available at 4pm for members wanting to play on Tuesday.  Wednesday and Thursday, the course will be open after 1pm.  We will have a small shotgun at 1pm for players as well as working in players that would like to play later in the afternoons.  Friday morning, the course will be open after 11am.  Please be patient and understand that everyone is sharing the course from Wednesday on.  John will be aerifying and sanding greens as well as tee boxes and approaches.  His crew will also be sanding all fairways throughout the week.

Ben has completed the PGA Jr League schedule and has been accepting sign-ups for both 13U and 17U programs.  For those parents new to the idea of The PGA Jr. League, this program has been bringing friends, families, and communities together through golf.  PGA Jr. League has been shifting the way youth golf is learned and played, including the adoption of league play, team golf and scoring with flags and points.  All skill levels are welcome, and no prior golf experience is required to participate in the program.   Whether your junior is new to the game or has been playing for a while, this is a great opportunity to be part of a team playing different courses and learning the game.  All PGA Jr. League games are played in a two-person scramble format.  If you are interested in participating this year, and you have a junior golfer that is 7-17 years of age – Contact Ben ben.bergner@twinlakesgolf.net for more information.

CALLING ALL SENIOR MEN!  If you are 50, like friendly competition, enjoy playing other nice courses in the area, then I believe you will be well rewarded for joining our team.  We are in the process of gathering players for our exchange courses this year.  The exchanges are usually held on Wednesdays or Thursdays around 9am.  As a starting point to filling the 16 player rosters, I have assumed that most of our 2025 members are returning.  Please contact Jeff Eberle or Kathy with any questions regarding registrations.  Click on the following Live Tourney link to register https://www.livetourney.com/league/40954

Lastly, we are back to posting scores in the GHIN system so don’t forget to do so.  USGA score posting requires entering adjusted scores for 9 or 18 holes played under Rules of Golf during active seasons.

Key USGA Score Posting Rules:

  • Minimum Holes: A 9-hole score requires 7–12 holes played; an 18-hole score requires at least 13 holes.
  • Maximum Hole Score: The maximum score for any hole is limited to net double bogey (par + 2 + handicap strokes received).
  • Post scores on the same day of play to ensure your Handicap Index updates by midnight.
  • Match/Stroke Play: All scores, including in competition, must be posted.
  • Incomplete Rounds: If 10–17 holes are played, the score must be posted, and the system will automatically calculate an 18-hole differential.
  • Solo Rounds: Rounds played alone are not acceptable for handicap purposes.
  • Hole-by-Hole: Recommended or required for 10–17-hole rounds.

If you need to activate your USGA handicap, let us know.  The $42 annual fee will be charged to your membership account.

See you around the Club!

Greens Committee

It is exciting to see the projects continue and start to take place throughout the golf course. The bunkers are continuing to get a lot of work and we are starting to see some of them round into shape. John will be getting the delivery of sod in early March to line #2 and #8 bunkers that are being reconstructed.

PLEASE do not enter the bunkers under construction from the top or walk on or through the faces that are currently bare dirt. These areas are under construction and footprints and bunker faces caving in delay the crew from finishing the project. Once the sod has been placed, please do not enter the area at all if possible. Sand will be added later in March after the base layer of sod is installed. The goal is to have these bunkers ready to go for play in April.

  • #14 fairway bunker will have sand added to it soon.
  • #3 tee box area rehab is continuing to be worked on- we are excited to see the hillside area get cleaned up and for the views of and from this tee box to be enhanced.

With spring nearly here, that also means it is the aerification and growing season. The spring aerification plan is to close for most or part of the days between Sunday March 15th to March 20th to aerify the greens and top dress the course. John and the crew need space on the golf course in-order to properly execute this process. The goal is to allow play in the afternoons when they are not working, be on the lookout for announcements from the Pro Shop and John before and during this time.

Thanks to everyone for their patience during the construction and projects. This short-term sacrifice will pay off in the long-run!

For other questions, comments, or concerns please email tpac14@gmail.com and/or ssealey16@gmail.com and we will review with the committee.

Thank you,

Women’s Division

Thank you to everyone who attended the 2026 Women’s Division Kickoff.  I am sorry to have missed this fun event and thank Sue Stevens for stepping in and taking all the pictures.

We are all looking forward to another great season of golf with friends.

As your trustee of the WSWGA (Washington State Women’s Golf Association) I am taking this opportunity to refresh you all on exactly what the WSWGA is all about and how it affects you.

The WSWGA was founded in 1922 in Grays Harbor.  There are currently 31 member clubs all over the state.  These clubs host the championships on a rotating basis.  The two major tournaments are State Championship and State Senior Championship.  This year the State Championship is being held at Seattle Golf Club in July and State Senior’s will be at Olympia Country & Golf Club in September.  If you have any questions or need assistance, please let me help you.  Twin Lakes will be hosting State Seniors in 2028.  Planning for that will be starting and I hope to have a lot of you involved.

Beside those major events the WSWGA sponsors three other statewide competitions.  Those events are Elizebeth Dwan, Match vs Par and All State Medal.  In those three events Twin Lakes women compete against all of the other clubs.  Also, on our calendar is “WSWGA Day” which we plan to coincide with Ace Day.  The net scores on those days are recorded and at the end of the year a prize is awarded to the players with the lowest total net for three days of play in three divisions.  We are allowed to have that competition twelve times during the season so I sneak in a few during that time.  Those competitions are listed in our calendar.

The term of the WSWGA trustee is supposed to be 3 years or until the trustee can find a replacement.  Please contact me if you are interested!

Lastly, the WSWGA has just launched a new website so please take the time to look at thewswga.com.

Happy golfing!

그 행사들은 Elizebeth Dwan, Match vs Par, 그리고 All State Medal입니다.
