Happy Labor Day, and welcome to September! What a great kickoff to the fall golf season with the annual Labor Day Couples tournament. Great weather, great golf course, great friends. And for those of us that don’t have partners that golf, a great opportunity to mix it up. Thank you Sharon, Jennifer Glasgow and Lawrence for helping the Meyers’ field a team.
Summer is almost over, and we are almost to the finish line with our assessment projects. The pool is running, occupied and receiving some rental income. The pumps and pump housing have been reconfigured, new power and cable lines dug, run, connected and covered, and are ever so close to being fully functional. Thanks again to our stellar greens crew (DAN!) for finding ways to keep water finding our fairways and greens.
The course has been re-rated, so please grab one of the temporary cards, fill out your scores and turn them in. Since we’re so close to the ‘dormant’ period of posting, the next few months provide a great opportunity to truly try to match the new rating with our actual scoring averages. Plus it gives us a few months of ammo to argue with the experts at where exactly #7 should fit on the card.
I’m working on putting together a search committee for the upcoming board of trustees elections during the annual meeting… If you want to be on that committee or RUN FOR A BOARD POSITION , please let me, Tom, or anyone else know about it; we’re looking for you! I never spent too much time as a younger person thinking about things I’d never do, but joining a private golf club, winning a championship, and being president of one would have been on that list for sure. As you’ve seen over the last few years, we have lots of talent here at Twin Lakes, and we have many uses for yours. It has been more rewarding than I ever imagined.
Thank you for another great month; see you out there!

BoT President
Wow, I can’t believe the summer is over! Happy September everyone!
The Summer Bash was a wonderful way to end the summer! I loved seeing so many of you in attendance to celebrate with a great band, perfect weather, and a fun time! In addition to the Summer Bash, the Boat Regatta was a special new event this year. It was so great to see all the kids (and many adults) assemble and decorate their boats for the big launch in the pool. Thankfully everyone’s vessels were seaworthy and we made it through the launching without any shipwrecks or sinkages!
We will be extending our Membership Initiative through September, as we continue to share the Twin Lakes experience with many individuals and families. Thank you to those that have sponsored members, and welcome to all our 2024 New Members!
As we say goodbye to the summer months, I hope everyone has enjoyed the pool. I want to express a big Thank You to Lillian Tucker, our pool manager, and her lifeguard staff for all their hard work this summer. We will definitely keep the pool open for the next two weekends with this heat, then we will monitor the weather after that. As long as we have decent weather and lifeguards available, the pool will be kept open for weekends.
I also want to thank Kevin Isherwood and his loyal group of fellow members for their volunteer work each Monday cleaning the flowerbeds throughout the golf course. They have been doing beautiful work and it is greatly appreciated!
Be sure to stay hydrated and keep cool in the heat this weekend! See you at the club!

Boy has our summer flown by. It seems like we just got started. But now that September is here, it means the last few scheduled outside tournaments and aerification is upon us. John Leslie and his crew will be working on the greens beginning the week of the 29th. We will be starting on Sunday night and working our way through Monday. The course will be closed all day on Monday the 30th. We will be having a back 9 start on Tuesday Oct 1 and since we will be working on a new procedure this time, we will keep you posted as we get closer to that week to how the course will be played. Be on the lookout for a constant contact message later this month with more details.
I mentioned that we have a couple of outside events- Thursday, Sept 5 is the Seattle University Baseball Tournament; Friday, Sept 6 is the Washington Glass Tournament. The golf course will be closed to play both days. The driving range will be open from 1-3 only on Thursday and closed to clean pick balls for Friday’s event. Friday, the range will be open 1-4 only and then closed for our usual clean pick so that we have balls for the weekend.
Monday and Tuesday, Sept 9 & 10 we will be starting on the #10 tee both days. We will be doing tree work on the front 9 and this will give the crew time to clean up the areas of debris to not disturb play as much as possible.
It’s back to school time and that means back to high school golf as well. Both Decatur and Todd Beamer High Schools have started their practices with matches to follow shortly. They have practice Monday and Wednesday after school starting around 2:30, as well as matches on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday’s so please plan accordingly when coming out to use the driving range, putting/chipping greens. If you come out to practice between 3-4pm, we will make room for you on the range, but it will be more comfortable for you to work your schedules around these times Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Congratulations go out to Sharon Lorenzo and Andrew Ziltener for winning this year’s Ladies Club Championship and Men’s Club Championship. Our Senior Club Championship is Bryce Landrud. Our Men’s President’s Cup Match Play Championship is still in process. All the first matches are being completed this weekend with the second set to be completed by Sept 16th.
We will be holding The Fall 2 Man event on the 21st & 22nd. Saturday’s format is Better Ball points and Sunday’s format is a scramble in the morning with a 9-hole chapman in the afternoon. $70 Entry per person includes lunch in between Sunday’s rounds. For those new to this event, it is a blast. My hope is to see some of the new members and those members that haven’t played in the past give it a try as this is a fun Stableford event. If you need help finding a partner, stop by the pro shop and let us know how we can help. GGID tlfall24
The Winward Cup is Sunday, Sept 29th for the men’s league final event. We will be sending out the email notification for golf and dinner sign ups next week. All Men’s League participants are welcome for golf and dinner as it is included in your league entry at the beginning of the year. GGID tlml24

Sunday, October 6th as we will be having our 1st Annual Couples Championship.
Sat & Sun October 12 & 13 we will be playing host to the Twin Lakes Amateur. The event will be 11:00am tee time start on Saturday and an 12pm shotgun on Sunday. Please note: The tee sheet will have limited play in the morning on Sunday (7:30 – 8:30am) to accommodate the field of players for the Twin Lakes Amateur.
The second event in October is the Ryder Cup on the weekend of Oct 19 & 20. More information about this event is to come as we will have three captains this year, Myself, Ben Bergner, and Tom Coburn. Clear your calendars so that you can participate in this event. Only 36 players in the field will be divided among the 3 teams. Team Coburn are the defending champions.
Lastly, a face missing in the shop is Aaron Storm who has left for his senior year of college at Whitman University along with Kaleb who is starting is freshman year at PLU. We also have a few of our part time high school staff that have gone back to their book studies and sports. But we will be getting 3 new faces in the pro shop, Miguel Chupa, Brighton Brown, and Logan Rutledge, who will be starting this week. All three young men are starting with the Highline Golf Team. I have been very fortunate to have a great staff this year to get us through the busy season and I am looking forward to continuing with our customer service improvements going forward into winter with these three new young men.
I hope that everyone enjoys the upcoming weather this week and stays hydrated and cool the next few days – See you around the club.

What a great summer of golf we have had at Twin Lakes. Thank you to John Leslie and his team for keeping the course in great condition all summer long. Our committee would also like to recognize the work of the Monday Morning Maintenance volunteers. Thank you to Kevin Isherwood for heading this up, the work you have all done to clean up the tee box areas has been noticeable and much appreciated.
Please note: aerification is scheduled for September 29th-30th. Be on the lookout for email reminders and schedule of front/back 9 closures.
Other committee projects in progress:
-Sand bunker rehabs
-Rotted railroad ties removal and/or replacement plan throughout the course
-Cart path repair/replacement plan throughout the course
-Hole #2 tee box steps replacement plan
-Hole 7 Poplar tree plan
If you have other ideas or items you would like the Greens Committee to address, you are always welcome to reach out to us.
As always, please remember actions that you can take to assist our grounds crew: fix pitch marks and use sand to fill divots. Do not drive golf carts over any repaired areas of the course and make sure to get back to the cart path 30 yards before the green. Do not drive around the back side of any greens and you should never drive off the path on any par 3’s. These small actions add up in a big way. Thank you for doing your part to assist in keeping our golf course in the best possible shape.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please email me at tpac14@gmail.com and I will review with the committee.
Cheers,
Tyler Pac
Committee Chair
